What began in Lisbon and recently expanded into the Algarve region is finally coming to Porto. Thanks to our Partners the City of Porto and IPBN member Global Shares, the Ireland Portugal Business Network (IPBN) is organizing its first-ever conference in Porto.

Update: On Thursday, April 21 from 10h30 to 13h at the Porto Innovation Hub, the IPBN will welcome a panel of speakers to lead guests in presence through business case studies from Irish and Portuguese businesses working from Porto with the aim to support the growing number of both Irish and Portuguese companies in this region and beyond. The IPBN’s ever-growing membership of business professionals is keen to use this event as a springboard to grow their companies’ offerings and expand their reach.

We invite all business leaders in the region and our members near and far to join us that day in person and help us build successful long-term business relationships and raise awareness of the IPBN within the region.

The Ireland Portugal Business Network (IPBN) has been promoting economic activity and business opportunities between Ireland and Portugal since 2016, thanks in part to its continued support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland. With close ties to both the Irish and Portuguese State Agencies responsible for exporters, Enterprise Ireland, and AICEP Portugal Global, the network has continued broadening its reach and is now proudly bringing its best to Porto to foster connections in Portugal’s industrial hub.

Special guests and keynote speakers will be invited to the podium covering a wealth of topics important to the region, including Aisling Riordan, Corporate Communications Manager at Global Shares who will present the company’s global expansion strategies and expound upon their talent and recruitment experience in Porto.

Stephen Tabb, HR Director of Global Shares told the IPBN, “We’re delighted to officially launch our second office in Portugal here in the vibrant, innovative city of Porto, and kick start a recruitment drive to fill 30 high-tech jobs over the next three years. The decision to invest further in Portugal builds on Global Shares tremendous success in Lisbon, where we have an incredible team of 70 staff now working at our state-of-the-art IT Hub & Service Delivery Centre. Porto offers a great lifestyle, ease of access, a favourable cost base and most importantly a talented pool of developers."

Philomene Dias, Director Inward Investment at AICEP Portugal Global, and Ricardo Valente, Porto City Councillor for Finance, Economy, and Employment and City Councillor for Tourism and Commerce will join in a discussion about doing business and investing in Porto moderated by IPBN board member Aoife Healy.

To follow, Irish businesses that recently opened an office in Porto will share the stage with Portuguese companies currently looking at expanding into Ireland, as a case study opportunity.

These companies and individuals include Irish businessman and recent Porto resident John Paul Prior who serves as the General Manager of Music Maker and Director of Sales Strategy and Technical Development at Farmony. Next, we will hear from Nuno Pinto, General Manager at Vitae Professionals Healthcare, and lastly, Renato Oliveira, Co-Founder & Senior Software Engineer at Craftable Software.
