“Benfica reports that Jorge Jesus has a clinical picture of respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2”, reads on the club's official website.
According to the statement, Jorge Jesus, 66, had seven negative tests for infection with the new coronavirus in the last two weeks, but “complementary diagnostic tests carried out at Hospital da Luz indicated a typical infection behaviour caused by the new coronavirus”.
"An immediate rapid test was carried out - which was also negative - and a PCR, the positive result of which was already known", stressed.
“Jorge Jesus will be in isolation in the next few days, with Benfica's clinical staff monitoring his health, which is stable. Sport Lisboa e Benfica addresses its coach with rapid improvements and calls for his privacy to be respected”, concludes the club.
Benfica has recently registered a high number of cases of infection by the new coronavirus in the professional squad.
