According to an official source from the Directorate General for Health (DGS), for people who want to travel to Portugal to have the Covid vaccination certificate from the European Union (EU) accepted, they must have received the vaccines approved by the European Commission, according to the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency.
These vaccines, which are being administered in Portugal and in most EU Member States, are BioNTech-Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen.
This means that Portuguese people who have received other vaccines in the countries where they live, such as Sinopharm or Sinovac (Chinese), Sputnik (Russian), Covaxin (Indian), Epivaccorona (Russian) or Soberana (Cuban), among others, and who want to enter Portugal upon proof of vaccination will not be able to do it.
These Portuguese may, however, enter Portugal upon presentation of a recovery certificate, if they have already being infected.
According to DGS, people recovered from Covid-19, holders of a valid certificate, issued between the 11th and 180th day, after a laboratory test (positive), which confirmed the diagnosis of infection by SARS-CoV-2, may arrive in Portugal.
Another possibility to enter Portugal is presenting a test certificate with a negative result.
The tests that are being accepted are the nucleic acid amplification test (TAAN) to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA, whose sample has been collected within 72 hours before arriving in national territory, and the rapid test of antigen (TRAg), for professional use, whose sample was collected within 48 hours before entry into Portugal.
