The minister was speaking on the presentation of the new image 'Marca Madeira', which will signal all the promotion and communication material of the destination, at Praça do Povo, in Funchal.

Miguel Albuquerque, who leads the PSD / CDS-PP coalition executive, reaffirmed that health authorities expect to vaccinate 70 percent of the archipelago's population by September, with around 260,000 inhabitants.

According to the latest data, about 60,000 doses of vaccines against covid-19 have been administered in the region, which registered 310 active cases of covid-19 on 11 April, out of a total of 8,599 confirmed since March 2020, and 71 deaths associated with the disease.

"In the first week of October we are going to have the Flower Festival in the traditional way and some events will be scheduled in the following months", he said, emphasising that until then there will be no other large-scale events.

The Flower Festival usually takes place in May and is one of the biggest attractions in the region, attracting thousands of tourists and residents to Funchal, but the date was changed in 2020 due to the measures to contain the pandemic.
