Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered a total of 3,762 deaths and 249,498 cases of infection, 82,736 of which are active, 1,352 more than on Thursday.
DGS indicates that of the 61 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 33 occurred in the North region, 15 in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 12 in the Centre region and one in the Algarve.
Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals a new maximum with the registration of 3,079 hospitalised people (62 more than on Thursday). In intensive care there are 481 people (23 more).
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, 163,000 people have recovered from the disease.
The North region has the highest number of new cases, with 3,630 reported in the last 24 hours, totalling 128,202 and 1,759 dead since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 1,805 new cases of infection were reported, accounting for 86,605 cases and 1,378 deaths.
In the Centre region there were 799 more cases, accounting for 23,720 infections and 478 deaths.
In the Alentejo, 135 new cases of covid-19 were registered, totalling 4,960 and 89 dead.
The Algarve region has today reported more than 90 cases of infection, totalling 4,549 cases and 41 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 29 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding up to 713 infections detected and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Madeira registered a new case in the last 24 hours, accounting for 749 infections and two deaths.
Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.
The new coronavirus has already infected at least 110,116 men and 134,690 women in Portugal, according to the declared cases. Of the total fatalities, 1,932 were men and 1,830 women.
The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
