Suspension of flights with Portugal is "absurd" decision by the UK

Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva considered, on 15 Januar, the United Kingdom's decision to suspend flights with Portugal "absurd" and "illogical", a "sudden and unexpected" measure whose grounds he said he did not know.

In our opinion, this is illogical. In the first place it is a sudden and unexpected measure and this is a first element of negative surprise. Secondly, it is a measure that hits hard on people who have not been properly warned. It was announced at 5pmon one day to come into force at 4am the next", said the head of Portuguese diplomacy.

"It is also an absurd measure, the foundations of which we do not know. Suspending flights from Portugal on the grounds of connections between Portugal and Brazil is, with all due respect, completely absurd," he added, adding that he had already asked the British counterpart for a conversation "to understand the grounds" for the decision.

I just can’t understand this decision. I’d Great Britain banned flights from countries on the grounds that they were formerly colonies there would be no flights from most of the world.

Do these government ministers not speak to each other. Has this idiot not noticed that the government has just locked the place down. There is nowhere to go and nothing to do even if you do come here. Why wouldn't other countries stop coming. The whole situation is ludicrous, another country run by idiots. They will not stop Coronavirus. Haven't ever stopped the common cold yet. Bunch of idiots, just out to bankrupt everyone.

Very well done, the only people caught were people abusing their residency status to come here to infect their families. It is also wise not give an ample warning, for avoing people flouting rules.
