“The first flight of the popular Delta Air Lines service between Lisbon and New York-JFK landed at Humberto Delgado airport this Saturday, 7 August”, said the carrier, noting that the plane returned to the American city on the same day.
“With the landing of flight DL272 in Lisbon this weekend, Delta Air Lines resumes a popular year-round route between Portugal and the United States, inaugurated on May 26, 2017”, said the company, guaranteeing that "The reintroduction of this transatlantic route follows the Portuguese government's decision last June to lift entry restrictions that allow US leisure travellers to visit the country for the first time in more than a year."
The airline will “operate four direct weekly flights between New York-JFK and Lisbon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays”, and “Delta's services between the US and Portugal are operated in conjunction with Air France partners, KLM and Virgin Atlantic” and thus, “customers can also reach Portugal via Delta's European hubs in Amsterdam and Paris”.
“Portugal has been one of Delta's most popular destinations for leisure travellers and we are delighted to reopen this cherished route to American tourists, further supporting the economic recovery from the global pandemic,” said Amy Martin, general director of planning for Delta's international network.
The carrier warned that passengers traveling to Portugal “must have a negative PCR or NAAT [PCR type] test or a negative antigen test, respectively within 72 hours or within 24 hours prior to the trip” and that there will be no “quarantine for travellers from the United States.”
Quite disgraceful in view of the current situation concerning the incidence of the Delta variant . We do not need /b want "leisure" travellers from the US.

This "news" is quite misleading, and looks like it was paid advertising..as TAP Portugal has been operating to New York for long time...shame on you for this misleading title just to pull in readers to advertise for delta airlines ..

Whether it's Delta, or TAP, or Air France, or any other Air line company. The important thing is to bring in more tourists, not just from America, but also from Europe. Portugal depends on the tourist industry, to keep Hotels open. Hotels provide jobs to a lot of Portuguese people, it's their bread and butter, put it that way. It will also boost the Portuguese Economy. Tourists spend money in Hotels, restaurants, shows, shopping, etc. and etc. Creating more jobs for the Portuguese People, and putting bread on the table. Support the Tourism industry, it's worth it. Portugal can only win in the long run.
