Portugal appears among the 10 most sought after international destinations by North Americans to spend a few days vacation for Thanksgiving, according to data from ForwardKeys.
The list is led by El Salvador, a destination that registers a 51% increase over the same period in 2019 (tickets confirmed on November 5, 2021 for travel from the US from November 18 to 24 compared to November 21 to 27 of 2019). The Virgin Islands appear in second place, with a growth of 44%, while the Top 3 is closed with Costa Rica and an evolution of 43% compared to the same period of 2019.
Portugal appears in 9th place, thanks to the increase in interest from North Americans.
According to ForwardKeys, US travellers “are starting to feel more confident in long-distance travel”.

Please read the article cited, it doesn't say that 18% of americans want to go to Portugal, that would be insane, given that less than 5% of Americans know that Portugal is a country. The article says that 18% more americans want to go to Portugal compared to 2019!
