According to a source from the Center for Relief Operations (CDOS) in Faro, the woman, in her 60s, was picked up by a regional team that connected Portimão and Lagos.
The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 pm and led to the closure of the road. The circumstances in which the victim was run over by the train are unknown, the source said.
The Volunteer Firefighters of Portimão, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and the Public Security Police (PSP) were mobilised to the site.
So sad, Can't say I'm surprised though - that section of road and rail crossing is notorious. The single red & white barrier pole in the photo says it all.
