“On January 17, a new focus of infection by avian influenza virus was confirmed in goose, in Lagoa de Santo André, in Santiago do Cacém, district of Setúbal”, said the Directorate-General for Food and Agriculture and Veterinarian (DGAV).
Surveillance measures are already being implemented.
In the document, DGAV appealed to bird keepers to comply with biosecurity measures and good production practices, avoiding contact between domestic and wild birds.
“The notification of any suspicion must be carried out immediately, in order to allow a quick and effective implementation of the disease control measures by the DGAV”.
Mortality notifications can be submitted in the ANIMAS application (http://animas.icnf.pt).
