The orange notice covers the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria and Lisbon and will be in effect between 12:00 on Wednesday and 09:00 on Thursday.
The IPMA has placed the seven districts under yellow warning due to the forecast of northwest waves measuring 5 to 6 metres, with a maximum height of 8 to 10 metres.
The strong maritime agitation also led the IPMA to place the districts of Setúbal, Beja and Faro under a yellow weather warning between 18:00 on Wednesday and 15:00 on Thursday, with northwest waves expected up to 4 to 5 metres.
The IPMA also issued an orange warning for the Madeira archipelago due to the sea agitation with northwest waves of 5 to 7 meters, which could reach 11 to 13 meters in maximum height, until 18:00 today, then turning yellow.
IPMA provide very reliable predictions of weather, in fact, this week they have even gone so far as to accompany their yellow weather warning with a yellow sky!
