“On March 15 [Tuesday] a new outbreak of infection with avian influenza (AG) virus was confirmed in a home farm, in the parish of Azinhal, municipality of Castro Marim, district of Faro”, reads a note released by DGAV.
This brings the number of confirmed outbreaks in Portugal to 20 and at least close to 230,000 animals have already been slaughtered due to this.
The districts of Leiria, Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, Beja, Faro and Porto have all been affected.
The first case was confirmed on November 30, 2021, in a domestic poultry house in the municipality of Palmela, Setúbal.
