The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) reported, in a statement, that 16 more cases of human infection with the Monkeypox virus were detected in Portugal. In total, 74 cases have been identified in the country, all men between 23 and 61 years old. The cases are located in the regions of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, North and Algarve.
According to the entity directed by Graça Freitas, “all confirmed infections are in men between the ages of 23 and 61, the majority being under 40 years old”. The cases were confirmed by the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
