In a statement, the DGS notes that “most infections have been reported, to date, in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo”, although there are also “cases recorded in the North and Algarve regions”.
“All confirmed infections are in men between the ages of 19 and 61, most of whom are under 40 years old”, says the DGS, noting that the new cases were confirmed by the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
According to the DGS, the identified cases are undergoing clinical follow-up and are stable and the information collected through epidemiological surveys is being analysed to contribute to the assessment of the outbreak at national and international level.
“The DGS continues to monitor the situation at the national level in conjunction with the European institutions”.
Portugal will receive 2,700 doses of vaccines against the Monkeypox virus acquired by the European Commission, the DGS recently confirmed.
