The decision takes into account “the need to organise
regular, safe and orderly migration flows, the fight against illegal migration
and human trafficking associated with it, as well as the regulation and
streamlining of conditions for the entry and stay of citizens in Portugal”,
indicates the order.
The objectives of the group are to simplify processes
related to visa applications to make their granting faster.
The working group should also propose measures to strengthen
human resources in consular posts with the highest number of visa applications
and assess “the need to place elements from SEF (Foreigners and Borders
Service) and IEFP, I.P. (Instituto do Emprego e of Vocational Training), in the
posts most subject to pressure”.
The order also mentions that the group's “mission” is “to
establish a permanent communication channel between the entities, from the
different government areas, involved in the visa processes”.
Typical Government decision. Keep bringing in
foreigner and never mind us Portuguese.

SEF (government), have not yet delt with re-registration of British expats post Brexit. This is to update the system to the new biometric system.
Considering how long ago Brexit was, the fact that British citizens who moved to the EU and Portugal, registered before Brexit have not been updated, or contacted does not speak well for Portugal.
The expats had no control over Brexit, the choice of the UK to leave the EU, and have made lives here in Portugal, contributing to local economies.
I happy in Portugal, but please deal with this issue.

J I don’t understand your problem wealthy migrants to this country contribute more to the economy than 99% of Portuguese people ever do .
This in addition to the money Portugal consistently receives from the EU enables the roads and schools and hospitals that benefit you all .
Unless you are prepared to become far more productive perhaps you should be grateful .

As per withdrawal agreement it was agreed that Portuguese Govt will give cards to UK citizens on the basis where UK Gov will also give residency cards to Portuguese EU citizens (covered under withdrawal) agreement, on smooth basis.
From UK side cards or applications are being processed in smoothly manner. However from Portuguese side 30k British citizens are still waiting for their biometric cards, as appointments are only open, in bit manner in two area only i.e, Azores and Madieria.
So why Portugal immigration SEF is so slow on this issue. I am living in Lisbon, Portugal and covered under the withdrawal agreement, I still havenot got my residency card after 2 years and still waiting and wake up every day with same stress. As Health services and other services are not accepting old paper and asking to get new cards, which Portuguese Government is still not giving.
I hope Portuguese Immigration Authorities will open there eyes. And will resolve this matter on urgent basis.
This is my strong protest upon failed/slow response/poor response from Portuguese immigration.
As UK is giving residency cards to Portuguese but Portuguese are not doing the same?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
