A fire that started at 14:40 in the municipality of Ourém, Santarém district, is developing at high speed and there are properties in its direction, Civil Protection said.

"It is a fire that is spreading quickly. There are some houses in its direction, but the firefighters are protecting them," said a source from the District Rescue Operations Command (CDOS) of Santarém.
At 4pm, 134 operatives, 36 vehicles and five airplanes were fighting the fire.
The fire is reaching the locality of Carvalhal, in the parish of Espite.
The same source of CDOS told Lusa that in Ourém three fires broke out almost simultaneously.

The lunatics who start these fires need to be put away, not for months or two to three years, but indefinitely!
