During the event which takes place on 29 August, there will
be no shortage of historical recreations, food and drinks, traditional swimwear
parades and lots of musical entertainment that will be divided between the city
(Cais da Solaria), including a performance from João Pedro Pais.
Tradition and folklore say that the “bath” on August 29
scares away demons and is worth twenty-nine baths. Whether coming from very
ancient times and linked to the end of summer rites, or resulting from the Arab
heritage, the custom remains today, as well as the festival which takes place around
this tradition.
On August 29, the festivities begin in the morning with the
historical recreation carried out by the Centro de Estudos de Lagos along
Avenida dos Descobrimentos and Praia da Batata. From 7:00 pm, the party takes place
at Cais da Solaria, with Zumba classes, food and drinks, entertainment and the
concert by João Pedro Pais.
The date will also be celebrated in Praia da Luz in an event
organised by Clube Recreativo, Cultural e Desportivo Luzense with the support
of the municipality. Here there will be music for all tastes, with three stages
on the same night: Sunset Stage at Miradouro da Fortaleza (DJ Grod, The Protons
and DJ Toy), Traditional Stage at Avenida dos Pescadores (Ricardo Glória,
Humberto Silva, Cláudio Rosário and DJ TobyOne) and Palco Praia (DJ Rythm, Dub
Pistols Band and DJ China).
