According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the
figures are based on a rapid estimate released on 29 July, which pointed to GDP
growth in the second quarter to 6.9 percent year-on-year and a chain
contraction of 0.2 percent.
According to INE, these preliminary estimates for the second
quarter of 2022 reflect, in the year-on-year comparison, “in part a base
effect, given that in the first quarter of 2021 several measures were in force
to combat the pandemic that conditioned economic activity”.
