According to data from the Tax and Customs Authority (AT),
of the total settlements issued this year (for IMI for 2021) a total of 679,435
exceed 500 euros.
According to the legal rules that frame IMI, whenever an
owner has a tax amount that exceeds 500 euros, it is automatically divided into
three instalments of the same amount, the second being paid during the month of
August.
Payment of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) began in May,
with the issuance of 4,009,718 settlement notes, of which 895,969 were worth
less than 100 euros, thus generating a single payment note.
For the rest, the payment is divided into two or three instalments,
to be paid in May and November or May, August and November, if their value is
between, respectively, 100 and 500 euros or exceeds 500 euros.
Outside this phasing are the owners who, in May, opt for
full payment of the tax.
