The associations ILGA Portugal, Variações, rede ex aequo and
AMPLOS submitted an application to organize EuroPride in Lisbon for 2025 and
the proposal has been approved by a majority of the members of the EPOA -
European Pride Organisers Association.
EuroPride is considered "the biggest event to celebrate
the pride of LGBTI+ entities in Europe" and has been held annually since
1992 in different European cities, with an extensive program of activities,
conferences, meetings, a march and a party.
In Lisbon, EuroPride will take place from June 14 to 21,
2025, coinciding with the city's popular festivals and the traditional Pride
festival.
"We are talking about an event that receives many thousands
of people from all over the world and it will be a moment for Portugal to prove
that it is at the forefront of human rights and in the promotion of security
and diversity contexts", underlined Ana Aresta.
The president of ILGA Portugal explained that the budget for
the organization of this initiative will be around one million euros, and the
four organizing entities expect the financial involvement of the Lisbon
municipality, Turismo de Portugal, private partnerships, sponsorships and
donations.
I think that the 99.5% of the world that are not alphabet people already know about the 0.5%, we need not have another big advert forcing rainbows down our throats.
Just quietly get on with life like everyone else and nobody will mind.
