However, to prevent self-tests from being made available
again only in pharmacies or other places where non-prescription medicines are
sold, the Government has put forward an exceptional regime to make rapid
antigen tests available in “supermarkets, hypermarkets and respective wholesale
suppliers, provided that the conditions defined by the manufacturer in the
information contained in the labelling and/or in the information leaflet are
guaranteed”.
"Since the population's access to these tests, as a
measure to protect public health, is not consistent with the exclusive
dispensation in pharmacies and places where non-prescription medicines are
sold, it is important to create the conditions to maintain the permission of availability
of these tests in other places”, justifies the Executive.
