It was the second consecutive month of decline in the domestic market, after, in June, overnight stays by Portuguese tourists fell by almost 7%.
In total, the tourist accommodation sector registered 3.2 million guests and 8.8 million overnight stays last month, increases of, respectively, 4.1% and 1.3%. Compared to the pre-Covid period, the number of guests is 10.7% higher and the number of overnight stays is 6.7% higher than in the same month of 2019.
Portugal is even getting too expensive for the Portuguese... Never seen so little foreign tourists either as this summer. They're going to cheaper countries, and countries that are more motorhome friendly.
