The streets of Flores and Ataíde in Lisbon will remain closed to traffic until Thursday afternoon (19 October) for the complete removal of unstable scaffolding, affected by the strong wind, said the municipal Civil Protection.
According to the same source, Rua do Alecrim, also closed to traffic today due to the risk of the structure falling, will be reopened today.
These arteries in the center of Lisbon are closed to traffic and with restricted pedestrian circulation due to the instability of scaffolding supporting renovation work, with temporary coverage, on Rua das Flores and up to Rua do Alecrim.
The alert to the Municipal Civil Protection Service was sent at 5:22 am, and it was found that “the scaffolding towers and covering sheets, on Rua das Flores, gave way and became unstable due to the wind recorded”.
According to the same source, between 17:00 and 18:00 today, cranes are expected to arrive at the site to dismantle the scaffolding, activated by the contractor responsible for the work, who is ensuring the work.
Rua do Alecrim will reopen today and the streets of Flores and Ataíde will remain closed “until the total removal of the scaffolding, which is expected to take 48 hours”.
