Artur Mendes, co-organiser of Boom Festival received the award during Eurosonic, the most important European live music festival that is taking place in Groningen, in the Netherlands, until Saturday.
“The prize was awarded by a panel of judges made up of experts who are not directly linked to any specific festival, with the exception that the previous year's winner will be invited to vote only for the following year's prize,” he said in a statement.
The “Green Operations Award” is the annual award given by YOUROPE - European Festival Association and the GO Group.
Its target audience is festivals that have contributed significantly to the development of more sustainable events.
Boom’23 once again received the ‘Greener Festival’ certification, the most important certification awarded to festivals in the area of sustainability.
Last year's edition was classified as Outstanding Greener Festival, the highest of all and above that awarded in 2022 (Highly Recommended), an award that will be presented in February.
The 2022 edition of the Boom Festival received, in November, the 2023 National Tourism Award, in the Sustainable Tourism category.
