Grahame Heritage passed away after a brief illness and his many friends from the bowling world wished to mark his passing. To his family and friends, we offer our condolences.

The matches on the 6th of January marked the mid-way point in the league and a lot of teams came back fighting fit. The action for the top team in the league, Floresta Foresters, was at Pedras where the Pumas took 12 points from the Foresters. While at home Floresta Rangers took 10 points to 4 from Pedras Panthers. Both Valverde teams did well against 2 of the Alvor teams and Balaia took 6 points to Alvor Lions on their turf.

On Saturday 13th the weather played a big part for matches on the western side of the Algarve. While the sun stayed under cover the southeastward wind had a big impact for those on the carpet. With all the scores returned the league table is looking as follows:

Floresta Foresters 109, Pedras Panthers 86, Pedras Pumas 84, Valverde Vipers 79, Valverde Veterans 76, Floresta Rangers 74, Alvor Leopards 65, Lions 55, followed by Balaia Whalers 40, and Alvor Lynx 27.

The big question for next week is which of the 2 Pedras teams will move into position to challenge the current leaders?

While jacks roll again next Saturday at 11.00 the Super 10’s league has also started on Thursdays.
