“This year marks the 10th anniversary of this program, which once again focuses on deepening relations with its central territories, different structures and artistic collectives in the city, presenting more than 70 shows and workshops from various artistic areas, with free entry”, reads a statement sent to the Lusa Agency.
Celebrations for the 10th anniversary of Cultura em Expansão will start off on March 9, at 7pm, with Lavoisier’s performance in the Capela de São José, at the Centro Juvenil de Campanhã.
On March 14, the concert for the debut of the album by Duques do Precariado will take place in the auditorium of the Grupo Musical de Miragaia.
The performance of German FM Einheit is scheduled for March 15, at the Associação de Moradores da Bouça, and on March 16, the Retimbrar show will take place at the Associação de Moradores da Pasteleira.
For month of March, the Porto City Council is promoting “Orillas Porteñas – Tablao Flamenco”, which brings together musicians Fernanda de Córdoba and José El Pajaro Ausina, dancer Francisca Durão and local artists, in a show which will articulate through different neighbourhoods in Porto, as well as the performance of Ana Lua Caiano and the first Campanhã Book Fair.
Cultura em Expansão will also take place in Miragaia and throughout the year, it will present different events such as the show “Exercício para performers medíocres” by Tita Maravilha and two cineconcerts for the whole family, featuring Tó Trips on April 7 and Manuel Vieira on September 22.
The Miragaia hub will also host the research project “Memoratório… Miragaia foi à Guerra”, with anthropologist Maria José Lobo Antunes, as well as ceramics, tile painting, “kamishibai” and mask workshops.
Bouça will be hosting the new show by Grupo Operário do Ruído, with musical direction by António Serginho and Carlos Guerreiro, and the project “Obras Portuenses da Década de 20”, with composers Fátima Fonte, Fernado Lapa and Rui Penha.
In the Bairro da Pasteleira, the municipality highlights the performances of Prétu/Xullaji, with routes planned for the streets of the neighbourhood accompanied by musicians and a storyteller, and the “Frente-a-frente” project, which will bring together Inês Campos and Vahan Kerovpyan.
The Pinheiro Torres neighbourhood will host shows from the Teatro do Frio program, which will be returning to the neighbourhood with different projects, including “Este lugar que é o meu”, led by rapper Deau, aimed at young people from the Escola Leonardo Coimbra – Filho.
The proposals are the result of the programming work of the four partner structures of Cultura em Expansão: Sonescola (Bouça), Confederação (Miragaia), Teatro do Frio (Pasteleira) and Visões Úteis (Campanhã).
As part of the satellite programming for the celebration of the April Revolution, there will be a concert which will feature Luca Argel alongside the Grupo de Canto Alentejano do Orfeão Universitáro do Porto, presenting a new creation from the Grupo de Teatro Comunitário do Bonfim – “A Democracia é um Ensaio! Utopias á Escuta” – and the “Enxerto” project, which will promote collaborative work between the Banda Marcial da Foz do Douro and Nuno Aroso.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Cultura em Expansão, the programme will launch a series of ten video testimonies, written by director Vasco Mendes.
