The coastal area of the municipality of Lagoa has once again been highlighted in the lists of the best beaches in Europe and the world. Praia da Marinha remains in the Top 10 of the ranking of the Best Beaches in Europe for the Summer of 2024, developed by the travel website BookRetreats, and Praia do Carvalho occupies eighth place in the list of those with the bluest waters in the world, developed by the accommodation website CV Villas based on the analysis of Google Maps images of 200 beaches on all continents.

BookRetreats evaluated beaches in 16 European destinations based on their popularity, safety, accessibility, weather conditions, and water quality, and revealed, on 31 March, the list of the 25 best beaches in Europe for the summer of 2024, in which Spanish beaches predominate, with La Concha Beach taking first place.

Portugal claimed six places on the list: four in the Algarve – in second place, Praia da Falésia, in the municipality of Albufeira, in tenth place Praia da Marinha, in the municipality of Lagoa, in seventeenth place, Praia da Armona, in the municipality of Olhão, and in twenty-third place, Praia da Terra Estreita, in the municipality of Tavira –, and two on Madeira Island – Praia da Ponta da Calheta in fifteenth place and, in twentieth Praia do Garajau.
