According to Postal, the mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, Álvaro Araújo, signed on 4 June three financing contracts for the refurbishment of the municipality's Health Centres, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, in the presence of the Deputy Minister and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, and the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins.
The contracts, included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), concern the Requalification and Expansion programs of Health Centres. The total investment for these projects is 3,220,981.15 euros, of which 3,037,044 euros are financed by PRR.
This amount will be distributed between three important health units in the municipality: the Vila Real de Santo António Health Centre, with a total investment of 2,779,950 euros and PRR financing of 2,660,000 euros; the Family Health Unit – Esteva, in Vila Nova de Cacela, with a total investment of 227,639.05 euros and PRR financing of 185,164 euros; and the Family Health Unit – Levante, in Monte Gordo, with a total investment of 213,392.10 euros and PRR financing of 191,880 euros.
The works aim not only to improve the physical infrastructure of health centres, but also to increase energy efficiency, and improve accessibility, safety and comfort for users and professionals.
These objectives are aligned with the goals of the PRR, which promote the refurbishment or adaptation of buildings to respond to these needs.
For the mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, Álvaro Araújo, “this investment constitutes a fundamental step towards improving and expanding the response capacity of primary health care in the municipality”.
“With these interventions, we are creating all the conditions to ensure that our residents have access to quality healthcare, in modern and appropriate facilities. The requalification of our municipality’s health centres is, without a doubt, a fundamental step towards improving the well-being of our population”, says Álvaro Araújo.
These measures also reaffirm the commitment of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António to contributing to the construction of a closer, more efficient healthcare system.
