According to Postal, On the 1st of July, the Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão (EMARP) will begin to remodel the water supply and domestic sewage drainage infrastructure and the execution of a rainwater drainage network on Estrada de Alvor, between Escola nº 1 and Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque – Portimão.
“The project aims to replace the existing DN 100 water supply pipe with a DN 200 PVC pipe and remodel the domestic sewage drainage network. In this way, the aim is to eradicate normal ruptures and repairs in networks implemented around 40 years ago”, explains EMARP in a statement.
The intervention on Estrada de Alvor also includes “the installation of a rainwater network, currently non-existent, which will allow rainwater to be efficiently directed, preventing the accumulation of water, thus reducing the risk of flooding”.
In order to minimise the impact of the project on normal traffic on the affected roads, the work, with an estimated execution time of four months, will be carried out in four phases, with the first stage taking place between the 1st of July and the 30th of August.
“This project is yet another work carried out by the Municipality of Portimão, on the path to water efficiency, which has been replacing older water networks, such as the work recently completed on Av. Gil Vicente, with the aim of mitigating activates and eliminating water losses, contributing in the short, medium, and long term to environmental and social preservation”, concludes EMARP.
