The words that topped the list of most voted on the eve of the closing of the choices, on December 30, were “conflicts”, “immigration” and “freedom”, according to Porto Editora.
In a statement, the company indicated that the word “conflicts” ended up with 21.3% of the votes cast on the election platform and “immigration” with 21.2%, without specifying the absolute number of voters.
This initiative has been promoted by Porto Editora for 16 years, seeking to value “the richness and dynamism of the Portuguese language, while reflecting the transformations and challenges of society”.
That means the final result was extremely close, with the top three choices being within a whisker of each other.
