“The largest percentage increases in the number of passengers transported were seen on North American routes (USA and Canada), which reached a total of 1.59 million passengers, 8.9 percent more than the previous year,” states TAP.
In addition to North America, Brazil's routes also maintained good performance, as in 2024 the airline transported more than two million passengers between Brazil and Europe, an increase of 7.1% compared to 2023.
“Exceeding the two million passenger mark in a single year is a new historical record for TAP”, highlights the national flag carrier, in the information released.
Meanwhile, African routes showed a “very slight reduction of 0.1%” over the past year, with the airline accounting for a total of 1.1 million passengers between Africa and Europe.
In relation to the Portuguese autonomous regions, TAP's routes to Madeira also transported 983 thousand passengers, an increase of 3.3% compared to 2023, while on the Azores routes, 527 thousand passengers were counted, an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous year.
In the case of routes to Europe, excluding Portugal, TAP also transported 8.8 million passengers, growing 0.9% compared to passengers who flew on these routes in the previous year.
TAP also says that, over the past year, the load factor of its flights reached 82.3%, which represents an increase of 1.5 percentage points compared to that recorded in 2023, while the capacity made available grew by 1. 6% and revenue per seat rose 3.4%.
