The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) recorded, between 00:00 and 17:00 today, a total of 662 occurrences due to bad weather in mainland Portugal.
According to ANEPC's tally, Greater Lisbon is the most affected area in the country, with 123 cases, followed by the Porto Metropolitan Area, with 84, and Coimbra, with 75.
In statements to Lusa, ANEPC indicated that, by typology, the majority of occurrences continue to be associated with falling trees, falling structures, mass movement (earth, stones, etc.) and road clearing also occurring.
These incidents in mainland Portugal mobilized 2,350 civil protection agents, supported by 875 vehicles.
Twelve districts on the mainland were today under an orange warning (the second most serious on a scale of three) due to the forecast of rough seas, wind, and snowfall, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
Due to rough seas, the districts of Faro, Setúbal, and Beja were under an orange warning until 6:00 pm today, while Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga remain under the warning until midnight on Sunday, according to the IPMA.
The institute also placed the districts of Lisbon, Leiria, Aveir,o and Coimbra under orange warning due to strong winds until 6:00 am today, and Guarda and Castelo Branco under orange warning, until midnight on Sunday, due to snowfall above 1,200 to 1,400 meters.
On Friday, between 00:00 and 23:59, ANEPC registered 1,038 occurrences in mainland Portugal, in addition to 235 situations registered by the Lisbon Firefighters' Regiment, making a total of more than 1,200.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, the two most intense days regarding the passage of depression Martinho, ANEPC recorded a total of 8,600 occurrences in mainland Portugal.
