According to Publituris, with spring just around the corner, many French people are planning their trips to take advantage of the pleasant weather. A study conducted by KAYAK.fr in partnership with market research firm Ipsos highlights the main trends in French spring travel.
According to travel comparison data, European capitals and major cities continue to be the most popular. Lisbon, Rome and Porto top the rankings, closely followed by three Spanish cities: Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.
The weather plays a key role in choosing a destination: 27% of French people prefer sunny weather. Ease of access is also a determining factor: 21% look for accommodation with a travel time of up to two hours to make the most of their time there.
French travellers are keeping a close eye on their spending: 65% plan to budget less than 500 euros per person, while preferences are for short but intense stays, with 48% opting for getaways of three to four days, and 45% opting for a week or more.
According to the travel comparison site, the French are looking above all to reconnect with nature: hiking is their favorite activity (33%). Gastronomy also plays an important role, with 48% of travelers interested in local specialties. Finally, urban exploration, including museum visits and shopping, attracts a significant portion of French tourists.
