The book, titled “Jeff Wall – Escritos de Arte”, brings together “some of the most significant texts by one of the greatest contemporary figures in the visual arts” of recent decades, written between 1982 and 2010, and organised by Sérgion Mah, curator and deputy director of MAAT.
The book was produced as part of the exhibition “Jeff Wall – Time Stands Still, 1980-2023”, which will be on display at MAAT from 23 April to 1 September. The exhibition will display over 60 pieces, reflecting on multiple themes the artist has focused on throughout his career. His texts reflect on artistic influences, the limits and possibilities of photography or the role of art as a field of reflection and cultural, social and political interpolation.
Alongside this publication, “one of the largest exhibitions ever held” on Jeff Wall’s work will be inaugurated. Wall, “an undeniable figure in the international visual arts scene of recent decades,” will also have his first solo exhibition in Portugal, as stated by the MAAT in a press release.
