Fóia, the highest point in the Algarve, located in the municipality of Monchique, offers one of the most breathtaking views imaginable. Frequently touching the clouds, this vantage point displays a mystical atmosphere, especially on foggy days, which are common due to its elevated altitude.

From here, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the west and south coastlines, framed by hills and charming villages nestled in between. The beauty of the landscape is enough to captivate anyone, making Fóia a must-visit spot for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful experience.

An idyllic spot

At the summit of Fóia, an exciting addition enhances the experience for all who visit. Here, you’ll find Alecrim, a food truck that offers far more than just a meal. The journey to Alecrim begins when you park your car and walk towards the viewpoint. A dirt path, marked by a charming sign reading “Alecrim”, leads you to the pastel green food truck, nestled among wooden tables, cosy seating areas, and a small playground.

The serene surroundings create an idyllic atmosphere, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Algarve’s nature. From this spot, the panoramic view becomes even more spectacular, especially in spring when the intensely green landscape of Portugal is in full bloom.

Tasty and affordable meals

Alecrim stands out not only for its unique location but also for its seamless blend with the surrounding environment. Open when the weather allows, from 12pm to 6pm during the spring, this food truck offers the ideal setting for a slow afternoon. As a self-proclaimed gastropub, Alecrim has crafted a menu that is both unique and affordable, with a variety of light meals to satisfy every taste. Whether you’re in the mood for a burger, a toastie, a sandwich, a fresh salad, or traditional snacks like “Filled Bread”, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re just looking to enjoy a refreshing drink, Alecrim also has you covered. The menu includes a selection of beers, cocktails, ciders, orange juice, and even medronho, a traditional regional spirit.

Born from a passion

Since its opening in August 2019, Alecrim has been the result of the passion and hard work of French native Marie-Anne Ferran. After falling in love with the Algarve, Marie-Anne made it her home, and Alecrim has since become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. In addition to its delicious offerings, Alecrim also provides a unique sense of community. The food truck has quickly become a gathering place for locals and tourists, where memories are created.

It’s a place where, without any doubt, the beauty of the Algarve and the joy of good company come together seamlessly, making it a compulsory stop for anyone exploring the region.
