According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) 785 people are hospitalised with covid-19, 44 fewer than on Tuesday, 181 of which are in intensive care, five less in the last 24 hours.

The area of ​​Lisbon and Vale do Tejo with 1,132 cases and the North region with 1,006 have 72.5 percent of the total of new infections verified in the last 24 hours.

The deaths occurred in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (4), in the North region (3) in Alentejo (3) and in Algarve (2).

Regarding the victims' ages, the bulletin reveals that seven were over 80 years old, one between 70 and 79 years old, two between 60 and 69, one between 50 and 59 and one between 40 and 49 years old.

Of the total number of deaths in the last 24 hours, six were male and seven female.

With regard to the 2,948 infections in the last 24 hours, the bulletin records that 229 are between 0 and 9 years old, 591 between 10 and 19 years old, 798 between 20 and 29 years old, 393 between 30 and 39 years old, 342 between 40 and 49 years old, 262 between 50 and 59 years old, 155 between 60 and 69 years old, 100 between 70 and 79 years old and 78 over 80 years old.

The data released by the DGS also show that there are over 675 active cases, totalling 43,919 and that 2,261 people were reported as recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the national total to 931,808 recovered.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 17,514 people have died in Portugal and 993,241 cases of infection have been registered.

Health authorities have under surveillance in the last 24 hours 2,057 people, totalling 58,114.

The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with the notification of 1,131 new infections, has so far accounted for 387,952 cases and 7,491 deaths.

In the Northern region 1,006 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 were registered, totalling 383,662 cases of infection and 5,461 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Centre region there were 294 more cases, accumulating 132,456 infections and 3,056 deaths.

In the Alentejo, over 127 cases were reported, totalling 34,876 infections and 993 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Algarve region, the bulletin reveals that 306 new cases were registered, accumulating 35,333 infections and 403 deaths.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 27 new cases, totalling 10,945 infections and 72 deaths due to covid-19 since March 2020.

The Azores today have 56 new cases, accounting for 8,017 cases and 38 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.

The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 456,802 men and 535,759 women, show data from the DGS, according to which there are 680 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.

Of the total number of fatalities, 9,198 were men and 8,316 women.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 11,452 were over 80 years old, 3,747 between 70 and 79 years old, and 1,588 were between 60 and 69 years old.

As for infections, the bulletin reveals that of the total of 993,241 people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 59,517 were between 0 and 9 years old, 101,555 between 10 and 19 years old, 155,600 between 20 and 29 years old, 147,222 between 30 and 39 years old, 162,432 between 40 and 49 years old, 138,559 between 50 and 59 years old, 93,991 between 60 and 69 years old, 60,326 between 70 and 79 years old and 73,039 over 80 years old.

The incidence rate of infections by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the last 14 days dropped again in the continent and at the national level, while the transmissibility index (Rt) increased again from 0.93 to 0.94.

The joint epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General of Health and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge, reveals that the national incidence rate (average of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days) dropped to 326.5, when on Monday it was at 336.1.

In mainland Portugal, the incidence rate dropped today to 331.6. On Monday it was at 341.4.

The Rt - which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection resulting from a person carrying the virus - is currently 0.94 throughout the territory of Portugal.
