Sky diving

This one is definitely not for the faint hearted! The fantastic weather in the Algarve means that the conditions are great for sky diving much of the year and with clear skies dominating you are sure to be able to book a day when you will be able to see across the entire region as you skydive. Book your session and head for the skies from the aerodrome near to Portimão. Experienced sky divers can jump alone and for those who are new to it all then a tandem jump is the ideal solution.


High speed racing

The Algarve is home to an incredible racetrack, located near to Portimão. Not only can you go and watch the professionals in action (the site has hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix and MotoGP rounds) you can also take to the track yourself. There are several driving experiences options, including driving your own car or bike around the track, using one of the speedy cars on site or being driven round by one of the instructors – all sure to fulfil your need for speed!


Water parks

There are three waterparks in the Algarve, Slide & Splash, Aqualand and Aquashow and while all have plenty of slides to suit all ages, including toddlers, they all also have slides that will push you to your limit! Aquashow is home to two free fall slides that the biggest in Europe, both standing at 32 metres in height and certain to challenge even the most hardy of waterpark fans. Aquashow also has a water rollercoaster and a top swing amusement park ride for those who fancy some adrenalin but don’t want to get wet.


Cross border zip line

Start in Spain and finish in Alcoutim in the Algarve when you try out the World’s only cross border zip line. The Limitezero zip line is a whopping 720 metres in length and crosses over the Guadiana River, offering amazing views as you speed along the wire. You will reach speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour as you gain speed before coming to a halt in the pretty village of Alcoutim. This really is a once in a lifetime experience that shouldn’t be missed – you also gain an hour as you cross into Portugal!


Parasailing

You can book your parasailing experience from several places in the Algarve, including in Albufeira and Vilamoura. Hop onto the speed boat and then get strapped into the harness and soon enough you will be high above the ocean and enjoying a bird’s eye view of the beautiful Algarve. You can go up in tandem to enjoy the experience with friends and family and choose whether you splash down in the water or take the other option of landing on the boat!


Speeding through nature

Combine a high-speed boat ride while also seeing incredible dolphins in the wild on a specialist boat experience. There are various companies that offer this service across the Algarve, including in Lagos, Albufeira, Portimão and Vilamoura. The boats speed along the coast and the dolphins love to swim alongside, while you can also take in the amazing rock formations and iconic caves along the route – one for the whole family to enjoy.


Off road buggies

Explore the lesser known Algarve while challenging your driving skills on an off-road buggy tour. Several different companies offer this service and you can drive yourself through the mountains, across rivers and streams and through the undiscovered Algarve. Prepare to get wet, muddy, dusty and to enjoy the drive of a lifetime. If you cannot drive, then bring along a friend to take the wheel while you soak up the entire experience as a passenger.

Getting to the Algarve to enjoy all this amazing adrenalin filled experiences is easy, with flight times from most major northern European cities coming in at around only three hours. There are regular flights throughout the week to Faro airport in the Algarve, including from Munich with Lufthansa, from Frankfurt with either Lufthansa or Ryanair and from Dusseldorf with Eurowings or Ryanair.

As soon as you land in Faro then your Algarve adventure can truly begin, with the airport only a short drive to most of the major destinations in the region.
