On Monday, the incidence of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in mainland Portugal was 231 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while the value for the entire territory was 224.6.
According to the joint bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), the transmissibility index (Rt) rose from 1.19 to 1.20 throughout the national territory and remained at 1.20 in mainland Portugal.
With the incidence exceeding 240 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, today's bulletin introduces a change in the risk matrix, which now includes lines that indicate 120 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, limit for high population density councils, and 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, for municipalities with low density. Until now, the risk matrix was only divided into quadrants where the intersection of incidence and transmissibility index illustrated the epidemiological situation.
The transmissibility index and the 14-day incidence data are updated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
