"On January 16, REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais
recorded a new peak in wind production in a single day, with 106.7 GWh. The
previous maximum was on November 11, 2022, the day on which wind production
reached 104,2 GWh", according to a report by Notícias ao Minuto.
Also according to REN data, the production of renewable
energy supplied 97 percent of consumption on January 16, with wind power
standing out with 56 percent.
"Between January 1st and 22nd, renewable production
accounted for 89 percent of national electricity consumption", notes REN.
In 2022 as a whole, the wind productivity index registered
0.99 (historical average of 1). In 2022, renewable production supplied 49
percent of consumption, with wind representing 25 percent, hydroelectric 12
percent, biomass 7 percent and photovoltaic 5 percent.
