"It is recommended that the owners of ships take the necessary measures in order to keep them in safe ports", reads the statement released by the regional maritime authority.
The notice issued by the captaincy of Funchal, based on the forecasts of the Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), was initially in force until 06:00 today, but it was extended.
The captaincy indicates that, on the coastline of the Madeira archipelago, the wind is from the northeast “fresh to very fresh, sometimes strong” and the visibility “good to moderate”.
Regarding waves in the northern part it can gradually increase up to three meters, being “temporarily” up to two meters in the southern part.
The movement of landings and take-offs at Madeira Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo is proceeding normally.
