FCB, an international renowned full-service law firm with over 30 years of history, has a team of 70 lawyers in their three Portuguese offices (Lisbon, Porto, and Faro), as well as associations with law firms in Angola, EVC Advogados, and Mozambique, AG Advogados.
As a global top 10 law practice, with more than 3,000 lawyers, Eversheds Sutherland provides legal services to a global client base ranging from small and mid-sized businesses to the largest multinationals, acting for 61 of the FTSE 100, 70 of the Fortune 100 and 128 of the Fortune 200.
Eversheds Sutherland and FCB have a long-standing working relationship, for over ten years, and this coming together more formally is a natural evolution, enabling both firms to strengthen their position in the international legal market.
With a strong international client base, FCB will now be able to provide a global answer to their clients’ needs, working together with Eversheds Sutherland’s teams.
FCB’s associated offices in Angola and Mozambique will also become part of the Eversheds Sutherland international network – EVC Advogados, in Luanda, will become Eversheds Sutherland EVC, and AG Advogados, in Maputo, will keep its current name and identity, including the brand Eversheds Sutherland in their communication supports.
With this important integration, Eversheds Sutherland reinforces its presence in Europe and, through FCB’s associated offices, in Africa as well.
Eversheds Sutherland will now operate in 74 offices in 35 jurisdictions across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. In addition, a network of more than 200 related law firms, including formalized alliances in Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Africa, provide support around the globe.
Lee Ranson, CEO, Eversheds Sutherland (International) commented: “The addition of FCB to our growing European and African locations supports our strategy and will greatly benefit our combined client rosters. We are delighted to welcome FCB’s highly respected team to Eversheds Sutherland and look forward to working closely with our new colleagues in the months ahead.”
Ian Gray, Chair, Europe, Eversheds Sutherland added: “FCB has been a valuable partner of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider service in Europe for over 10 years, with long-standing relationships between our legal teams. This combination is a natural evolution for our teams to come together and work more closely. Our firms are culturally aligned, share many clients in common and have a substantial history of referrals to each other. We are thrilled that such a talented legal team has joined us.”
Gonçalo da Cunha, Partner, Co-Managing Partner Eversheds Sutherland FCB (Portugal) said:“I am delighted that FCB is combining with Eversheds Sutherland to create greater reach for both our firms across Europe, and in Angola and Mozambique. By joining forces, we will deepen our ongoing relationship to the benefit of our international clients. We look forward to building and strengthening relationships with colleagues across the firm’s global office network and supporting clients on their activity across Europe, Africa and Latin America.”
