In a bi-annual index of the top 40 renewable energy markets worldwide by consultancy EY, the United States held on to top spot, followed by China. Portugal, meanwhile rose from 27th on the list to 22nd, which was largely the result of the record-breaking bids for the state-run solar bid and its goal to achieve 80 percent of installed renewable energy.
