On Thursday, the Council of Ministers announced that the ban on movement into or out of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area will remain this weekend, between 15:00 today and 06:00 on Monday, with the exceptions provided by law, due to the increase in covid-19 cases in this zone.
According to the Government, people who have a digital certificate or negative test to covid-19 are able to enter and leave the Metropolitan Area.
Speaking to Lusa news agency, Captain João Gaspar, from the Public Relations of the Republican National Guard, stated that the GNR will carry out a movement control operation to and from the AML, as it did last weekend, and that it will take place between 3:00 pm today and until 6:00 am on Monday.
"The operation aims to comply with the rules in force and verify whether or not the population is moving under the rules", said João Gaspar, stressing that the GNR will direct the inspection to the main roads with the highest flow of people and transit and to places of public and collective transport, such as buses, trains and maritime transport.
Among the access roads to the AML with increased supervision, the GNR highlights highways 1 (A1) and 2 (A2) or national roads 5 and 10.
