A source from Infrastructure of Portugal (IP) told Lusa that traffic has been suspended, since 9:03am, in the section between the stations of Vila Nova da Baronia (Alvito, district of Beja) and Casa Branca (Montemor-o-Novo, district of Évora) .

Contacted by Lusa, a source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Évora, said that the accident had resulted in "a victim", but he was unable to specify, for now, their state of health.

According to the IP source, the collision between the train and the car occurred on a private level crossing, at kilometre 104.486 of the Alentejo Line.
