According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,763 people are hospitalised today, 69 fewer than on Monday, while in intensive care units there are 111 people, minus three, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19.
The number of active cases decreased today to 467,878, to be 7,738 fewer than on Monday, and in the last 24 hours 20,813 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,717,509 since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours, 15,093 contacts were no longer under surveillance, but the health authorities still keep 474,904 people in these conditions.
Since March 2020, at least 3,206,281 people have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and 20,894 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been declared.
Of the 28 deaths with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 12 took place in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley area, 10 in the North region, three in the Center, one in the Alentejo, one in the Algarve and another in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
Most of the new infections were diagnosed in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, with 4,024 infections, followed by the North, with 3,275 more, the Centre (3,260), the Alentejo (856), the Algarve (652), the Madeira (561) and the Azores (475).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,135,955 cases and 8,680 deaths.
In the North region, there were 1,217,470 infections and 6,400 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 479,301 infections and 3,700 deaths.
The Algarve has a total of 130,303 infections and 678 deaths and Alentejo has 113,829 cases and 1,167 deaths from Covid-19.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 75,626 infections and 184 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 53,797 cases and 85 deaths.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.
Since March 2020, 10,991 men and 9,903 women have died from Covid-19.
