According to the calculations of the Energy Services
Regulatory Authority (ERSE), average sales prices (PMV) of petrol (simple
gasoline 95), were more expensive in Spain and cheaper in Portugal.
According to the statement, which was reported by ECO, VAT-free petrol PMV across the
European Union decreased by 5 cents per litre from the second quarter to the
third quarter of this year.
Excluding taxes, Portugal's PMV for 95 single gasoline was 4
cents per litre lower than Spain's, and with taxes, the sale of petrol in
Portugal continued to be cheaper by 3.9 cents per litre when compared to Spain.
“Although Portugal has a higher tax burden (44%), in the
context of the Iberian Peninsula, the Portuguese PMV was around 3.9 cents per
litre lower than that of Spain”.
Diesel prices
As for diesel, ERSE reports that among the 27 Member States,
the price increased, on average, by 0.7 cents per litre from the second quarter
to the third quarter of 2022.
Regarding the comparison with Spain, excluding taxes, ERSE
reveals that the average national prices of diesel were 3.9 cents cheaper per
litre. “The tax burden in Portugal (37%) was identical to that in Spain (37%),
which justifies the practice of lower PMVs in our country”, indicates the
bulletin.
