"Boavista FC, Futebol SAD held on its own initiative, and as has been standard practice since the start of the pandemic, another round of testing for Covid-19 this Monday, 12 July, when three positive cases were detected," the 'axadrezados' said in a statement published on their official website.
Boavista had rescheduled on Sunday, 11 July, the training camp for between 13 and 18 July, given the cancellation of the Algarve Tournament, after Gent were unable to travel to Portugal due to restrictions associated with fighting the pandemic in Belgium.
"It is also informed that Boavista FC, Futebol SAD immediately put into practice the protocol of action for Covid-19 indicated by the Directorate General of Health. A new round of tests is planned for the next few days", ends the note from the Porto club, without identifying the members of the squad in question.
Boavista had scheduled matches with Sporting and Benfica in the Algarve Tournament, but had to cancel the meeting against the national champions, scheduled for Thursday, a day after having seen the cancellation of the preparation clash with the 'reds'.
The 'axadrezados' start the 2021/22 season on 25 July, when they visit the stadium of the also first division Marítimo, in a meeting of the first phase of the League Cup.
