With the name “Estrela E-Bike Center”, the idea comes from the desire to “share a sometimes unknown mountain with others, following off-road paths that allow you to get to know the soil, flora, fauna, life of the populations and the diversity of the climate”, say the promoters in a press release sent on 20 July to the Lusa News Agency.

The project will have a space at the Serra da Estrela Youth Hostel, where participants and customers can store electric bicycles, charge batteries and carry out maintenance.

The first tour will take place on 18 and 19 September, at the Estrela E-Bike Center in Penhas da Saúde with exclusive use of electric mountain bikes.

The tour will have two stages, which will cover the route that connects the areas of Manteigas and Unhais da Serra (Covilhã), passing through forests, valleys and lagoons.

“A medium-high difficulty tour for adventurers, lovers of Nature and overcoming difficulties, but also for those who want to know more about the Serra da Estrela ecosystem. A real adventure with sustainable mobility”, promises the organization.

According to the information, the registration fee is 80 € and includes guides, lunches and dinners, entry to the Vale de Manteigas Interpretation Center, with the possibility for participants to choose the option of staying or not staying at the Pousada da Juventude da Serra da Estrela, for which there is also a modality with special prices. For the first six subscribers, who do not have an electric bicycle, the Estrela E-Bike Center will make available units for a symbolic price of 20 € for the two days.
