The accident occurred around 11:00 am (10:00 am in Lisbon) on Monday, on a section of motorway 7 (A7) in the municipality of Marbella, in Andalusia.
Traffic was chaotic after the small accident, as the other drivers realized that money was literally flying across the road.
“At first we didn't really know what was going on. But we could see parked cars and people getting out and bending down to pick something up”, one witness told Efe news agency.
“Then someone commented that what was on the floor were fifty euro notes”, added the witnesses.
