The order, signed by the Minister of Health, stated that the SNS Hospitals may suspend during the month of November assistance activity “that, due to its nature or clinical priority, does not imply risk of life for the users, limitation of its prognosis or limiting access to periodic or surveillance treatments”.
“It is the responsibility of the Regional Health Administrations, IP to ensure the coordination of the use of installed capacity in the hospitals in their geographic area and, whenever necessary, to take appropriate measures for interregional coordination, without prejudice to the competences attributed to other entities”, says the document.
Not only hospitals suspending non-urgent care, but also health centres now putting consultations with doctors on hold for the foreseeable future. Lucky to get prescriptions renewed. Health services are stretched to the limit.
Tough times ahead for people with underlying health conditions and those missing out on screenings and scans of various kinds. We all have to ride out this storm as best we can. Take care everyone!
